Calling all runners, speed walkers, competitors in training and casual strollers. New York City education charity Change for Kids will host the second annual Run for Kids event, a 5k family run to benefit some of the city’s most under-resourced elementary schools.
Run for Kids will take place on Saturday, April 16 in Riverside Park at the 103rd Street Promenade. The race begins at 9:30 a.m. with registration opening at 8:30 a.m. Tickets are $30 for adults, $25 for students under 18 years of age. All levels and ages are welcome. Since 1996, Change for Kids (CFK) has partnered with local elementary schools to provide a broad range of essential programs for students in high poverty neighborhoods of the city. Now serving four schools in Harlem, Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx, CFK provides music lessons, fitness and health education, visual art, field trips and literacy tutoring for more than 2,500 students.
