LongHouse Reserve will host its annual Summer Gala at their 16-acre East Hampton grounds on Saturday, July 16 honoring glass sculptor, Dale Chihuly, with the LongHouse Award and LongHouse Patron, Barbara Slifka, with the LongHouse Award Art Leadership.
Dale Chihuly is a world- renowned glass sculptor and has created over a dozen well-known series of works from the 1970s to today. He is also celebrated for large architectural installations and was honored in 1986 with a solo exhibition, Dale Chihuly Objets de Verre, at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Palais du Louvre, in Paris. Mr. Chihuly is an honorary Board of Trustees’ member at LongHouse and has several works of art on display each year. Barbara Slifka is the VP of the Board of Trustees and a long time supporter of LongHouse.
This year’s gala will celebrate LongHouse’s 20th Anniversary, promising to be the most exciting yet. The theme of this year’s event is White Hot and Blue, highlighting the colors turquoise, cobalt and sapphire and as always the attire will be festive. Dale Chihuly will be creating a very special installation specifically for this year’s Gala, reflecting the theme of the evening which will be on display at LongHouse throughout the season. During the gala, a beautiful performance by the New York City Ballet will take place at one of LongHouse’s beautiful gardens.
The Summer Gala proceeds will support the LongHouse Reserve’s mission to exemplify living with art in all forms - a mission Jack Lenor Larsen, one of the world’s foremost advocates of traditional and contemporary crafts began in 1991.
