Critically acclaimed contemporary artists including Ahmed
Alsoudani, Gary Panter, Kiki Smith and David Salle, as well as award-winning author Jonathan Safran
Foer, have donated exclusive artworks to a benefit auction being held later this month to raise money
for education charity Africa Schoolhouse.
The highly collectible pieces will be offered both online and for sale at an event to be held at the
Fredericks & Freiser Gallery (536 West 24th Street, New York) on November 15th from 6-8pm. The
many artists whose works are featured in the auction also include Fred Tomaselli, Mickalene Thomas,
Mary Reid Kelley and Wangechi Mutu and others.
Collectors and art aficionados wanting to bid on the exclusive works, or who want to purchase tickets
for the event, can do so online at www.africaschoolhouse.org/art2011.
One hundred percent of proceeds raised from the auction will be donated to the Africa Schoolhouse
Foundation, a charitable organization established in 2007 to build sustainable school communities for
children in under-served areas of Africa. Africa Schoolhouse built and opened its first primary school in
Tanzania in 2010, and all funds from the auction will go towards building wells and refurbishing schools
for over 2000 children in the Sukuma region of Northern Tanzania.
