Description
’Dinner by the Book’ is a new event series hosted by the YWCA of the City of New York to couple great food and literature with the YW’s commitment to empowering women and eliminating racism. Whether fiction or non-fiction, each book and author explores a story of empowerment from a different country or region within the US and the tasting menu is designed to reflect the cuisine from that area. A portion of the proceeds from each ’Dinner by the Book’ event supports the YW’s extensive programming efforts throughout New York City. Critically acclaimed and award winning novelist Alyson Richman will be sharing the inspirational story behind her fourth historical novel The Lost Wife. A period piece tracing the paths of two star-crossed lovers over 61 years of separation, Alyson’s fourth novel is an emotional journey that begins in the glamorous city of pre-war Prague, and takes a swift turn as the Nazis cross the border. Chefs Anthony Raggiri and Adil Fawzi will create a wonderful 3-course meal centered on traditional French Provencal fare. The event is open to the public; Reservations required; Cost: $49.50 standard ticket; includes three course dinner, a copy of The Lost Wife, and a tax-deductible donation to the YWCA-NYC. To purchase tickets, contact: Sara Raassi at sraassi@ywcanyc.org or by phone at (212) 735-9708 or visit online at www.ywcanyc.org
