On October 24, 2011, the Center for Children's Initiatives (CCI) will hold its Annual Champions for Children Awards luncheon at the Yale Club of New York City. Ken Rosato, anchor of WABC, Eyewitness News This Morning and Eyewitness News at Noon will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. Champions for Children recognizes the hard work and efforts of early care and education professionals, business leaders, organizations, community philanthropists and advocates as it relates to the field early care and education. The event raises public awareness and needed resources to assist in the sustainability of providing quality training to the early childhood community, research-based tools and effective policy work CCI is known and respected for. The 2011 Champions for Children Awards and CCI is extremely pleased to honor Kim Jasmin, Vice President, Northeast Region JP Morgan Chase, with the Corporate Leadership Award in recognition of her significant investments in early childhood education, her commitment and participation in the advancement of QualitystarsNY, and her personal commitment to philanthropy and support of CCI. It is our honor to confer the Golden Heart Award to Donna Chandler, in admiration of her staunch and tireless advocacy for children and families in her Harlem community and beyond and her insistence on quality models and a stimulating environment infused with unconditional love and understanding for children’s needs. CCI proudly presents the Institutional Leadership Award to Emergency Coalition to Save Child Care, In appreciation of their critical work bringing organizations together representing thousands of city residents to demand the City restore an unprecedented cut to critical early learning services. The restoration of $82 million was a major victory for child care and for a longer-lasting outcome: raising the awareness of the importance of early childhood education in New York City.
