Description
Young Women's Leadership Network (YWLN) is a non-profit organization founded in 1998 by Ann and Andrew Tisch to empower low-income students to achieve their highest educational potential. YWLN serves more than 7,000 students with two life-changing programs: ӢThe Young Women's Leadership Schools (TYWLS), a high-performing network of all girls' public secondary schools - four in New York City and one in Philadelphia. Today there are TYWLS affiliate schools across the country and YWLN is recognized as the national leader in public all-girls education. The schools provide a single-sex educational choice for predominantly low-income students who will be the first in their families to attend college. ӢCollegeBound Initiative (CBI), a comprehensive school-based college guidance program for young women and men. CBI was created in 1999 as the college guidance program at TYWLS of East Harlem. The program's success warranted replication in high-need coed public high schools, along with other growing TYWLS schools. CBI will be in 16 schools in the 2011-2012 school-year. YWLN's two programs have sent over 4,500 students to college with more than $50 million in financial aid and scholarships. Our students are thriving through our programs and earning four year college degrees at approximately triple the rate of their peers. Their dreams of achieving higher education are made possible in great part to the supporters of the (Em)Power Breakfast. You can learn more about the event by visiting www.ywlnempowerbreakfast.com. We hope to see you in September. We promise that the morning will be inspirational, uplifting and unforgettable. Your support will make a powerful difference and help thousands of low-income students receive a first-rate public education and achieve their college going dreams!
