Explore the ways in which photography and sculpture combine to convey meaning to the viewer...
Question: Where do sculpture and photography meet today to erode the hierarchical boundaries that have traditionally separated fields of creativity?
Collaboration: The ISC and the Museum of Arts and Design present Constructed Images: Intersection of Sculpture and Photography
Conversation: Delve deep into the "meaning of making” with a private tour of Otherworldly: Optical Delusions and Small Realities followed by a panel discussion surrounding the ways in which sculpture and photography combine to create extraordinary visions of reality and convey meaning to the viewer.
This program will include an exhibition viewing featuring several of the exhibiting artists, followed by a panel discussion in the MAD Theater moderated by ARTnews Deputy Editor Barbara MacAdam, featuring NYU Professor, author/art critic Shelley Rice; art critic and Sculpture magazine journalist, Edward M. Gómez; artist, Oliver Herring and Otherworldly exhibiting artists Lori Nix and Thomas Doyle. Cap off the evening with cocktails & snacks!
"MAD is delighted to launch a continuing collaboration with ISC through this program. Both organizations are dedicated to enriching the understanding and appreciation of the exciting interdisciplinary world of the visual arts today, and we all look forward to other collaborations that examine the ways in which sculpture intersects with contemporary art and design." - David Revere McFadden, Chief Curator, MAD
