Opaque - Dining in the Dark offers one of the most unique culinary adventures known today. Based on an ingenious European concept that has enjoyed great popularity in cities like Berlin, Paris, and Vienna, the first ever "Opaque - Dining in the Dark" experience is arriving in New York.
Dining in the Dark is an opportunity to encounter the other senses (touch, taste, smell, hearing) on a level rarely experienced by the sighted. Diners are guided through a five-course dinner, immersed in total darkness, by a server who is blind or visually impaired. This is a chance to take a short leave from the visual world and let a different kind of sensual consciousness into the sandbox for just a little while.
Put your sense of taste to the test! Enjoy a dinner from The Breslin Bar & Dining Room in the Ace Hotel's event space, Liberty Hall, that will have you discovering subtleties of flavor you never knew existed.
The five course, prix-fixe menu will be thoughtfully prepared by chef April Bloomfield and Peter Cho, The Breslin Bar & Dining Room's chef de cuisine. April Bloomfield and restaurateur, Ken Friedman, are co-owners of Michelin star-rated restaurants, The Breslin Bar & Dining Room and The Spotted Pig, and the pair recently opened The John Dory Oyster Bar, which earned a two-star review in the New York Times earlier this year.Event date: September 22nd - 25th, 2011
The cost of the event is $149.00 per person for the 5 course dinner, and a $159.00 VIP seating on opening night, 9/22/2011.
