Description
Stolen Chair, a critically-acclaimed downtown theatre company and host of the Very Victorian Valentine’s Party (The Villager’s A-List, 2010), Atoms & Eves Valentine’s Party (TimeOutNY pick, 2009) and Pirates of the Aegean Party (Village Voice Choice, 2008), presents the ultimate Valentine’s alternative: “If Music Be the Food of Love,” a night of aural pleasure for musicophiles and those who love them. Come stag or with your sweetheart to celebrate our species' lust for music. Enjoy free drinks and some special musical guests as you share intimate moments in private listening booths, make love to the mic while lip-synching on our faux Jumbo-tron, find your true love with our music compatibility quizzes, build your own musical instruments, get your prescription from our very own rock doctors, and more! All proceeds will benefit Stolen Chair’s 15th original work, Listen To This!, exploring the ways music rules our lives and how this love affair with music has changed over the centuries.New York Press’ best “genre-bending theatre,” Stolen Chair is a theatre laboratory dedicated to the creation of playfully intellectual, wickedly irreverent, and exuberantly athletic original works. Proudly plundering the pop culture of the past half millennium, Stolen Chair’s aesthetically promiscuous work recycles and reinvents old genres and stories to discover new ways to challenge and delight contemporary audiences. Pioneer of the Community Supported Theatre movement, Stolen Chair is supported, in part, by the Nancy Quinn Fund and by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and New York State Council on the Arts.If you have further questions about this event, please contact Jon:Jon Stancato, Jon@stolenchair.org, (917) 251-0695
