’A polished, finely acted tale of love and class in the south of France.’ —thehollywoodreporter.com
Actor-turned-director Daniel Auteuil presents a star-studded remake of Marcel Pagnol’s 1940 film as his directorial debut.
Set around the First World War, the film follows 18-year-old Patricia, the oldest and favorite daughter of well-digger Pascal Amoretti (Auteuil), who is romanced by the handsome and wealthier young Jacques (Nicolas Duvauchelle), the son of prosperous shopkeepers. Their relationship blossoms quickly, only to end suddenly when Jacques is sent to the front leaving Patricia to deal with the consequences of their brief moment of passion.
Special thanks to Kino Lorber Inc.
The film will open Friday, July 20 at the Lincoln Plaza Cinemas and the Cinema Village.
