One usually doesn't think of bars as typically nerdy establishments, but when you think about it, even nerds need a place to convene and drink. Some of these places are cool despite their geekiness, and others are just, well, unabashedly nerdy. More»
[Jakob Lodwick. Insane fameball or unrealized genius? You decide] It's been awhile....let's take a little look see at what the nerds have been up to shall we?
-The latest trend amongst the geeks? NOT twittering/blogging/tumblring/facebooking their social interactions. Though it's really hard to actually keep a social media famester party on the DL; props to them for trying (it's so cute). One meetup that didn't care about being found out: the"Meet the Tech" wine and cheese event last night, brought to you by the lovely ladies of nonsociety and pals (left). [Nonsociety]
-Google is so cool that it's giving it's nerd herd secret passwords and "sandbox" beta pages and stuff. The secret word "caffeine" suggests that this new update to their algorithms is going to basically energize the way we find things on the web. [Google Webmaster Central Blog] More»

What are you guys doing at 12:01 this Friday night? Hitting a party in the city? Going for a midnight swim in the Hamptons? Or sitting at home anxiously hitting “Refresh” on Facebook? If your answer was the latter, we’re going to let you get away with it, just this once. Internet Week's still going on?! You betcha it is. These dorks have years of partying to catch up on- am I right? Last night, after the "popular nerds" -um how's that for a paradox, gathered to watch hear Their Omnipotent Leader Barry Diller speak at the Rockefeller center, they moved onwards down to Webster Hall to mingle with the plebs (Gawker commenters and the likes), at DIGG's Diggnation party. (MC HAMMER CAME!) From here they moved on to M2 for Thrillist's party, or maybe Gawker's rooftop soiree. -Take a look at the "Husband Hunting Bra" (more photos below) by lingerie maker, Triumph International Japan. A countdown clock is attached beneath the bra cups that stops when an engagement is inserted. I know a couple so-called "nerds" that can't WAIT to get their hands of this. [Gizmodo]
-The first tweet from space was sent out last night! NASA astronaut Michael J. Massimino, currently in route to the Hubble Scape Telescope aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis is apparently enjoying his view. [Twitter] More»
The Kindle DX launched today, and it was all the nerds could talk about. Read your papers on it! Get your PDF files for easier transporting! Throw out all your magazine subscriptions! Save some trees! (For only $489) Everyone live tweeted it's arrival of course. You know the drill....[Gizmodo Live]
[Caroline Mccarthy and Rex Sorgatz] The city's finest nerds gathered at the "Youth Knows No Pain" premiere afterparty where they all tried to stomach their drinks after seeing Julia Allison's botox adventure up on the big screen. Allison was M.I.A. [RandomNightOut]
-Okay, so if the reasons Julia Allison was fawning over Randi Zuckerberg (like an Adrien Field to a Rambin-owned fur coat) weren't obvious, it should be quite. clear. now. Honestly, I don't know what everyone is so worked up about. Look, we got this video out of it didn't we? Happy Friday. [1938 Media]
