Why Don't Anne Hathaway And Jake Gyllenhaal Date?

Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal were spotted together Wednesday night at the Regal Theater. Sure, these adorable A-listers were attending a promotional Q&A for their upcoming movie, “Love and Other Drugs,” but in my mind, it was their first public outing as Hollywood’s newest “it” couple.-

Fine, they might not be dating yet, but here’s why they damn well should be.

They’re classy, old New York.

We’re not talking Lohan lineage here! Anne was a Brooklyn babe, moved to a Jersey suburb and ultimately returned to the city to study acting at NYU. Jake was born in LA but spent his adolescence bussing tables and Bar Mitzvahing in Manhattan. And while both actors are bicoastal, their families and home bases are in New York.

Anne’s not a MILF yet.

Jake’s last lady, Reese Witherspoon, broke things off because as hot as he might’ve looked carrying cute blonde kids around on his shoulders, he wasn’t ready for fatherhood. Anne will undoubtedly make one yummy mummy someday, but right now she, like Jake, isn’t on the parenthood page.

No Jail for Jake.

Anne’s ex, Raffaello Follieri, is currently serving a four-and-a-half year prison sentence after his involvement with a four-million dollar real estate scam. She told Vogue earlier this month she, understandably, has her fair share of “trust issues.” I’m going to go ahead and say this Oscar-nominee won’t be embezzling anytime soon.

They’ve got a movie to promote!

Sure, “Love and Other Drugs” is the stereotypical, rom-com formula with some little blue pills thrown in, but I’ll probably swallow my cynicism and cough up fifteen bucks to see it. And I'm sure others would too if these costars became lovers in real life! Forget Tomkat or Brangelina. Princess Darko for the win!
