[Bad boy Matthew or good boy Chandler?]

Spirits were high at Rose Bar last night, where things were getting particularly crowded on the eve of the "Christmas morning for NY fashionites". Socialites mingled with designers, real estate titans, and of course; people who have no rhyme or reason for being there but somehow made sense. One of the people I spotted, sitting at a back corner booth most the night was Matthew Perry. You may think of Matthew for his more recent work in roles in things like 30 Rock, The Ron Clark Story, or even The Whole Nine Yards with Bruce Willis, but alas, I'm afraid he will be forever immortalized in my heart as the most beloved Chandler Bing.

Talking amongst Matthew Perry Chandler Bing in the flesh, I couldn't help but think that in no world would the real Chandler Bing be there. That got my mind going on, as it sometimes does, and I couldn't help but contemplate: Who would you rather be with Chandler Bing or Matthew Perry?

Matthew Perry has this to say about Chandler:

"Chandler's the guy everybody thinks will do well with women, but he thinks too much and says the wrong thing."

Ouch. But how do they stack up for the rest of us? Who would you want to have as your Friend? Or your boyfriend for that matter? On the one hand you would be hanging out in "fabulous circles" and the chance to meet loads of interesting people, but you would also have to deal with the trappings of fame and success, (you can count that under cover trip to rehab and anonymous trips to Whole Foods goodbye). On the other hand, does any one really want to be hanging out in that dirt infested apartment in the West Village with Chandler where the most exciting date you'll be going on anytime soon is to a Ranger game? He is a nerdy sweetheart though, the kind of guy that I will always hold a special place in my heart. Comparing these two is like comparing apples to oranges, and a decision that must be made in the hearts of women around the world each day.

Picking between Matthew Perry and Chandler Bing is the lifelong struggle of many women...including myself. Do you pick the stable, nice guy who will treat you like a queen and rub your feet at the end of the day...the one where you always know what you will be getting with, or the bad boy who can smoke inside Rose Bar and get away with it...and who will keep you on your toes, even though at times it could get exhausting?

Joking aside, I commend Matthew Perry for being so open with his Vicodin addiction, and he seemed to be in complete control over his life and body last night...'tis a hard choice, and one in which, in each case you would have to accept both the good and the bad.
