Aww Emily. We tried to ignore you, to announce your irrelevance, even to stop reading you. But we failed...miserably. When we're left with nothing to write about save for our old jokes on DBTH counting his baseball cards, you were there. You were there when we needed fodder for a Rose Bar post, information about the small catfights going on uptown that we wish we didn't care about, and, more importantly, you were (and are) there to make our lives easier. Often times, with you, the jokes write themselves...which is why we just can't quit you. On to your most recent post:
"Brace yourselves. Confession: I can pretty much pinpoint my origin on the ‘circuit’ to the Whitney Studio Party, so if when people ask me when this all began, I guess you could call tonight a one-year anniversary, This really was my first night out on the town after losing the weight–can you believe it?"
More story and photos below:
And so, in honor of the help that you have given us over the months, we would like to help toast your one year anniversary of being in the social circuit! HURRAY! HURRAY! HURRAY! (those are completely un-facetious exclamations!)
So, thank you Emily! Thank you for wearing sunglasses inside. Thank you for talking about the UES "hot spots", how much weight you lost, Devorah Rose, Beatrice Inn, Pearls, and running DAILY. Thank you for giving Chris his first live interview. Thank you for your "Let's Rocks", your "Hey New Yorkers", and your "Yours, E's." Thank you for essentially being you, Emily Brill!
We look forward to seeing you tonight, and hearing about it tomorrow.

Plovgh, the new online farmers market
Who knew that the farming world had a trend? Well, Mallory Sustick, a Brooklyn bartender, works like a dog to maintain, promote and advance the online farmer's market startup Plovgh that began after noticing a need for more local farm market distribution.

Yes dear, we all think she not cute. Unless of course, you consider lunchlady arm flaps and fat girl face is attractive.

i love to hate essentially as much as the next blerker but I mean this with love.. she should realize that essentially, Emily, is a very unusual looking gal - and she should run with that in an eccentric, totally out there kinda way. I know she's been dabbling in it with the glasses and ugly outfits - but I'm talking rich eccentric like Peggy Guggenheim or Isabella Blow. Just go whole the hog and create a look. Maybe in that way she could earn some respect.
