Brooklyn native Sophie Auster is the daughter of author/film director Paul Auster and author Siri Hustvedt. At the ripe young age of 23 Sophie has an album, movies and a college education under her belt. Sophie is clearly not one to shy away from a camera, and when caught in front of a lens her fashion sense is just as fresh and inspiring as her budding career!
Where you may know her from
The photos you posed for in Mango’s catalogue are super rock’n’roll. How do they compare to what you normally wear onstage with your band?
I think it’s kind of evolving. The more I perform, the more I’ll experiment with what I wear. Usually it’s a T-shirt, leather jacket, jeans, and boots. Sometimes I’ll try and go a little more exciting and wear a dress. The clothing for the Mango shoot had a retro vibe, which was very cool. [via]
What is up next for Miss Auster
With her college degree from Sarah Lawrence behind her Sophie is pouring her heart and soul into her next album, and is continuing her passion for acting.
“I force myself to write everyday, but the best songs are the ones that pour out you—the ones that are urgent.” [via]
Auster will be playing at the Montauk Music Festival this upcoming weekend, and is continually adding performances to her website .
