The Club Kid

The Club Kid
- She never woke up before 2 p.m. and never left her rent-controlled midtown apartment without her owl-shaped sunglasses. - She never waited on lines at clubs, eager doormen just lifted her over the velvet ropes. - She was possibly the world's oldest party animal, but also had a huge social conscience. [Photo: Zelda Kaplan with Richie Rich at Hammerstein Ballroom] - She once told NY Mag:
“I think one of the things that keeps me healthy is that I’m not introspective at all,” says Kaplan. “The secret is being interested in things outside of oneself.”
- She always enjoyed the company of younger people because they didn't complain about health. - She was known for making the party rounds at least 2 or 3 times a week, but sometimes she would be out 5 nights in a row. - In 2006, at age 90, she listed some of her favorite places as the following: Double Seven, Cain, Happy Valley, and Bungalow 8.
"Bungalow doesn't really get good until 2:30," she advised the Village Voice.
