Are boozy brunches back--or are they overdone? At the Brasserie Beaumarchais (in the former Bagatelle space), ladies in lingerie danced on table tops, guests got rowdy in nightlife apparel, and a few people broke out the liquor bottles.
Conversely, Brunchcritic.com's launch party at the Park Avenue Tavern respectfully celebrated the relaxing afternoon occasion, with only mimosa's as the chosen party drink.
The Koch Brothers have been known to dominate the NYC Boozy Brunch scene (this year they took over the Plaza). And, each year, we have had fun exploring our cold weather day drinking hot spots....

But, are people still really into day drinking at boozy brunches? This weekend, we explored two other brunch parties looking for answers....
Le Grand Brunch at Brasserie Beaumarchais

Brunch went brash at the Beaumarchais this weekend thrown by 13th Street Entertainment. Guests packed the dance floor and were flanked by women displaying lascivious lingerie. This type of wake-up call isn't for the light-hearted, but the dedicated. This atmosphere seemed to appeal to the crowd who wants to forget the day before it's even started, opposite of Brunch Critic Andrea Pappas' view of brunch, an occasion she labels as a place for friends to congregate and catch-up on life.
Brunch Critic.com Launch Party

BrunchCritic.com hosted their launch party at the Park Avenue Tavern. Andrea Pappas, the founder of the site, created BrunchCritic to collect the best brunch spots in the city. A chic alternative to the no holds bar brunch above. This spacious venue and well-dressed crowd gave off a classy vibe. Far from boring, guests still expressed their need to dance. Although which party one attends is a personal choice, there's no need to get hammered during the middle of the day and dance on table tops- it might be a waste. The Park Avenue brunch promotes a professional, yet jovial atmosphere.
