Union Square Lounge opened on Monday, bringing some much needed nightlife action to the land of Greenmarket and NYU dorm-dom. The spot, a project from Lotus alum Michael Gogel, is a comfortable, open room of dark couches you can sink into against the warmth of fireplaces built into the wall.

Presently a dead zone for the late night party scene (unless you count your drunk food search as falling into that category), we hope this new venue will restore the area to past glory.
