Maurizio Cattelan, "All"

The Art!
The first major attraction was, well, the art. If you didn’t catch the last night of Maurizio Cattelan’s amazing exhibition, shame on you for not reading last week’s art roundup. Despite the snow and freezing cold, the line nearly wrapped almost around the entire square block as hundreds of art aficionados clamored to see Mr. Cattelan’s final show, simply entitled “The End.” Unlike anything ever seen in the Guggenheim before, the art, which encompassed the entirety of Cattelan’s career, hung not on the walls but directly from the ceiling. Canvasses, sculptures, furniture, various taxidermied animals including one unbelievably large horse—everything but the kitchen sink (but maybe one of those, too) dangled from strings down the building’s cylindrical center. Also unusual at the Guggenheim, photography for this particular exhibition was permitted, and visitors certainly indulged, many chatting in foreign languages, particularly French.  And speaking of "French"-several lovers took advantage of the diverted attention from the walls, cozying up on small benches and sharing a quiet kiss.
