DJ Mia Moretti and Electric Violinist Caitlin Moe rocked the Carlo Pazolini Flagship Opening Party last night, attracting celebs like Solange Knowles, Kelly Rutherford, Angela Martini, and Kelly Bensimon. But just next door, art pop-up shop Grey Area was hosting their pre-Valentine's HeART Party, a fete for New York's artistic elite. And as you might expect in a town like New York, worlds collided.
"Where did all these fashion people come from?" one prominent curator asked, gesturing to the haute horde packing Grey Area. Songstress Shanee Pink crooned songs in front of a fluorescent heart, while high-heeled and fur-coated fashionistas cooed over jewelry designed by Renee Riccardo and Elephant Heart.
Many guests had simply wandered in by accident, confusing the crowd lined up in front for an alternate entrance to Carlo Pazolini. As a result, ambassadors from art and fashion mingled while admiring the objets d'art. Within the crush, the lovely Vadis Turner posed for photographs in front of her new exhibition, framed lingerie (one for each day of the week)!
"Look at this crowd! I haven't even been able to get my Love Bite's yet," Ms. Turner said, laughing and pointing to a red velvet curtain in the back, where performance artist/vampress Anne Koch left her mark on those brave patrons who had the courage to enter.
Guests thronged around the refreshment table which, after running out of wine, scrounged up some bottles of whiskey and gin. "We were certainly not expecting this high demand," confided a bartender, while pouring out nightcaps for well-heeled patrons, who were asking for price information of the art on display.
Afterward, the love continued at The Wooly, where guests toasted to HeART Party's success and a surprise mingling with the world of fashion. After a few rounds, artist John Gordon Gauld led a coterie of stylish creators to Le Baron for a swan song of drinks and dancing.
Grey Area's Pop-Up Shop is ongoing at 547 Broadway, 2nd Floor.
