The ghost of Limelight past rolled in its grave last night (although it was probably rolling to begin with) as the 6th Avenue church-cum-debauched megaclub reopened as a mini-mall.

In place of fishnets and goth boots, you had striped oxford shirts. The cocaine and Special K were gone too (one presumes), with cupcakes filling in. Michael Alig, Amanda Lepore and Kenny Kenny were nowhere in sight, although their fellow addled club kid alumnus Richie Rich checked out the scene before running home and crying in the fetal position. Also missing were the big celebrities who smoked, drank and quite publicly screwed the night away in Limelight's VIP room.

But at least we had Jill Zarin and Kelly Bensimon, two reality TV sirens who would show up at a can opening, to ring in the new retail mecca.

Oh, the agony and the ecstasy of it all, with the latter in short supply in more ways than one.
