In "From The Mixed Up Files Of Mrs.Basil E. Frankweiler", two children run away from home and live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where they discover that an unattributed statue is in fact Michelangelo's. Last night at a special unveiling, the Met added a non-fictional Michelangelo to their collection...

The small sculpture, titled "The Young Archer", is on loan at The Met from the French Embassy for the next ten years, as a symbol of the strong ties of friendship between France and the US. It was apparently carved by Michelangelo as a teenager, a fact that should make you pretty depressed about your life. Guests of the French Embassy and the Museum, including Patti Smith,  were invited to enjoy cocktails and preview the little statue.
