Chloe Sevigny, Tommy Hilfiger, Ally Hilfiger, Cynthia Rowley, Michael Stipe, Terry Richardson, Robert Verdi, Leelee Sobieski, Valentine Uhovski and Olga Rei, the nefarious duo behind the brief-lived "Social Rank" website, and someone named Gandalf Gavin* were among the VIPs who attended last night's special preview of The Whitney Museum's Biennial.-

Curator Francesco Bonami was on hand to introduce guests to this year's Biennial collection, which is called "2010". The Biennial doesn't officially open until tomorrow, but guests at last night's party were able to take a first look at some of the art, including a wall relief by Piotr Uklanski, Charles Ray's room of pinwheel flowers, and perhaps most memorably, The Bruce High Quality Foundation's We Like America And America Likes Us.

The early reviews of the Biennial have been positively glowing, so it's definitely something to check out. After all, it only comes around every two years...

*Gandalf Gavan is, of course, a well-known and artist. But his parents named him Gandalf, and he will forever, in my book, be thought of as "someone actually named Gandalf".
