The Northeast Equine Expo: Horses, Mallets, And Hermes

Horse lovers everywhere, and any girl who's ever dreamed of champagne from an Hermes booth retreated to the 2010 Northeast Equine Expo over Memorial Weekend.

The luxury lifestyle event was held at Belmont Park this year and featured an exhibition polo match and awards ceremony, as well as interactive, family-friendly displays. Jessica Walsh, the founder and president of the Expo, organized the event as a kick-off for the Belmont Stakes Race, and attracted a whopping 30,000 horse owners, riders, and enthusiasts.

A few of the notable attendees included the nation's very first polo club and the only one in attendance: the Meadowbrook Polo Club of Old Westbury, Long Island, and luxury fashion house Hermès. While Meadowbrook hosted a polo exhibition match and a tutorial on the sport, Hermès lavishly treated guests to glasses of champagne.

And for the unfortunate few who couldn't legally enjoy Hermès' services, the equine stars of the Disney movies "Hidalgo," and "Secretariat," which premieres later this year, were also in attendance.
