The Voice Project, a song-driven effort inspired by the women of Uganda who are using their voices and songs as vehicles for change in the war-ravaged regions, held their Fall benefit last night at Chelsea Room. Peter Gabriel's daughter Anna formed the organization that supports women and the peace movement in Uganda.

TV On The Radio's Jaleel Bunton, Joan As Police Woman, Chelsea Leyland, and Wendy Stapleton Reyes all came out to take part in the event which raised funds for programs in Central East Africa that provide viable and sustainable economic opportunities for women, former child soldiers and their communities.

Revenue for the project is usually generated from online videos of well-known artists such as Peter Gabriel and Tom Waits performing protest-oriented songs.
