We believe that one
should not trade ethics
for fashion, nor sacrifice style for conscience.
Natalie Portman isn't the only humanitarian that cares about putting animal friendly footwear on our feet. Bourgeois Boheme is one of the UK's most popular online and animal-friendly fashion boutiques, (it's also the term that popular West Village restaurateur Carlos Suarez used to describe the style of Bobo); and they have recently launched their own range of footwear for men and women. The shoes are handmade and ethically produced in Portugal and India. As shoe production in mainstream fashion is often linked with animal suffering, workforce expoitation, and environmental destruction, BB is set on making "Fashion with Compassion". Their shoes are made of microfibre, the highest quality and most eco-friendly leather alternative, (100% animal-friendly) and even the glue is water-based. The line is inspired by the ancient Indian philosophy of "ahimsa" or non-violence and I'm giving it my stamp of approval. "Footwear for the ethically conscious" embossed on the sole of each shoe, says it all.
