Today, the National Archives released the names of more than 35,000 top-secret personnel files of World War II-era spies. And thus, it's shaping up to be a great day! This is the most exciting information I've heard all week. The name on the list that's got everyone particularly interested in: Julia Childs. That's right the queen of the kitchen was helping save our asses in WWII. I wonder if she lured any enemies over with her "killer pies". More notable names on the list:
Other notables identified in the (OSS) files include John Hemingway, son of author Ernest Hemingway; Quentin and Kermit Roosevelt, sons of President Theodore Roosevelt; and Miles Copeland, father of Stewart Copeland, drummer for the band The Police. [The AP]
I hope desperate housewives everywhere follow Ms. Child's lead and start taking risks of their own, even if that means mixing up their pot roast night.

Just wanted to correct something. I saw this buzzing in the news when it was fresh and I longed for the days when news wire reporters bothered to get their facts straight before publishing. The Quentin and Kermit Roosevelt in question are the grandsons of the former president. Not the sons. The first Quentin Roosevelt was killed quite famously during WWI. And Kermit, Sr. too died in 1943 before his son even enlisted. Kermit, Jr. went on to aid the Iranian coup that ousted Mossadegh and later went on to live a nice, quiet retirement. And this Quentin was killed in 1948 airlifting rice and supplies to beleaguered Chinese Nationalists during that country's civil war. Either way, I don't mean to snipe at your blog or anything. I just got the urge to set the record straight.
