Could this be one of the strangest marketing ploys ever? If you happen to work in midtown and are cranky that you're stuck in a cubicle instead of enjoying another day of beautiful weather, I know something that might cheer you up…getting a free cab hailed for you by Mario! At the Midtown Sheraton between 8-10 a.m. and 12-2 p.m., some guy dressed in a Mario costume (who must be sweltering in the 80 degree weather) will be flagging down cabs and apparently paying the fare in order to celebrate the launch of Mario Kart Wii. Personally, I'd prefer a car that looks like something out of a video game than a yellow cab….especially since those flower decal stickers appear to be gone.
