Of a Kind for Guest of a Guest: What to Wear to Refinery29 & W Hotel's Oscar Party

by Erica Cerulo · February 25, 2011

The biggest awards show of the year is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than with a blowout (but not massive-there are only 150 tickets available) event that's as much about the red-carpet competition as the trophy contenders? Root for your favorites while dressed in some awesome pieces from other emerging talents.

    1. Because its declasse to go with something short on Oscar night, opt for a black fishtail skirt from With Hearts in my Eyes that can work high-waisted on special occasions or rolled down for a more relaxed daytime look.

    2. Clearly, some rocks are in order, and the twenty something duo behind Carol Marie makes jewel-laden pieces that even the most understated Academy Award attendees (see: Angelina) could get behind.

    3. In honor of one of the party's VIPs, designer-about-town Timo Weiland, slip on a thin wool cutout sweater that screams, "Isn't it spring yet?"

    4. Top off the ensemble with a big colorful men's watch from the Stockholm-based line Triwa-because the bonus question in your Oscar pool will clearly have to do with how long the broadcast runs.
