61st Annual Writer's Guild Awards In New York City

    The writer's stole the spotlight Saturday night as the best of the best were recognized by the Writer's Guild of America for their excellence in film, television, radio, and news. The Daily Show correspondent, John Oliver, left the crowd in stitches as he hosted the 61st Annual Writers Guild of America Awards at New York City's Hudson Theatre while Neil Patrick Harris simultaneously took care of the west coast ceremony. A few of the night's winners included Dustin Lance Black (Milk), Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire), Ari Folman (Waltz with Bashir.) and writers for Mad Men, 30 Rock, and In Treatment,

    John Patrick Shanley (writer/director of Doubt) was honored with the Hunter Lifetime Acheivement award and Norman Stiles with the Herb Sargent Award for Comedic Excellence.  Presenters and attendees of the night's festivities included 30 Rock's Judah Friedlander, Jerry Stiller, The Daily Show's Aasif Mandvi, Gilbert Gottfried, Sam Waterson, Mad Men's John Slattery, and Ugly Betty's Ana Ortiz.
