French Connection

French Connection: Life, Liberty, And The Right To Work Long Hours Pre-Fashion Week

Though Anna is British, she appears to be a firm supporter of the American cause, if that should mean being the editor of American Vogue and being heavily involved in the CFDA. New York, she says, is a "vibrant" fashion center, like London and Milan, because these cities support sources of nascent talent. The youth, she indicates, is the most important source of vibrancy.

Anna met with French Minister of Industry Christian Estrosi in 2010 and successfully convinced him to provide financing for fashion start-ups via the banking system, to up the ante on educational programs, and to relax workweek restrictions prior to Fashion Week. There is a certain movie I can recall which jokingly admitted that a man might be the head of the house, but a woman is the neck. Like this, Anna's impressive power to sway has done wonders.
