Valentino Garavani, the legendary fashion designer is retiring, and is anything but upset about the decision. The 77 year wasn't keeping quite on his opinion regarding what his industry has become. As reported by London's Independent, after his final haute couture show in Paris this week, he told journalists that:
"This environment is no longer stimulating, I certainly won't miss the fashion world. It's ruined! Everybody's doing the same things."
He followed this with some of his opinions regarding his contemporaries in the industry, proving he is old enough now to be able to say whatever the hell he wants to and get away with it:
Armani: "In the course of 40 years he has created a great style – but vulgar."
Prada: "knows what she wants... even if we don't share ideas about clothes."
Dolce and Gabbana: "Shy at the beginning – now arrogant."
Donatella Versace: "[Her brother] Gianni's talent was unique – but what grit she has!"
After attending carnival festivities in Rio, and skiing in Gstaad, the designer plans on spending much of his retired life as a "gardener". We are anxious to see what kinds of hedge masterpieces he comes up with.
