At Duo, there’s a refreshing mix of new and old, brought to you by the duo themselves, sisters Wendy and Larae Kangas, who carefully choose the vintage finds. “We’re really influenced by Americana,” the sisters agreed. The overall style of the store is slightly androgynous and minimalist, with a fun twist on the non-vintage duds. They’re all done by local designers, bringing attention to smaller businesses just like duo. One designer hand crafted each pair of sandals that the store carries, each pair slightly and charmingly different.
“Arianna Bohling makes great sandals. She’s working on them in Peru at the moment. We like to stick to the local designers we buy from,”
says Wendy. By popularizing younger and up-and-coming designers, the shop can offer the freshest look at new trends, while nobly promoting smaller businesses that otherwise wouldn't get too much publicity.
