Daily Style Phile: DJ Jack-E Brings St. Tropez To New York

by BILLY GRAY · November 13, 2009

As New York barrels headlong into dark, cold winter, we can be forgiven for using our imaginations to whisk us away to yacht-clogged and sun-soaked St. Tropez. And the man who can bring us there sonically is DJ Jack-E. -

    -

Jack is the resident at Les Caves Du Roy, a nightclub so swank it makes the Boom Boom Room look like a mid-Turnpike Howard Johnson's. The spot is located in St. Tropez crashpad Hotel Byblos, where an Expedia search didn't turn up an available room until April's middle season. (A "small" two bedroom will run you $1,150, so book now!)

Anyway, when Jack abruptly steps away from the turntables at his home base and takes a break from the Cave's crowd of sheiks and obscure royals, he's fond of gracing us New York peons with his larger than life presence. Past NYC appearances have included gigs at Pink Elephant, Kiss & Fly, Bagatelle and, last night, 1Oak.

So next time Jack brings his thumping house music to town, throw frostbitten caution to the wind and indulge in some unbridled European decadence. Just make sure you've got an oil heir to foot the bill.
