When we caught up with designer Charlotte Dellal at the 24th Annual FN Achievement Awards at MoMA last week, she seemed quite delighted to make our acquaintance...
"Is that a banana bag you're wearing, or are you just happy to see me?" we asked.
"You said it before I did," she said. "Very happy to see you."
The shoe-designer extraordinaire was hanging that evening with buddy Olivia Palermo (who philosophized a bit for us), the face of Mango's holiday Look Book along with beau, Johannes Huebl. A tutti-frutti assemblage, if you ask us. The signature yellow bag comes from Della's own line, Charlotte Olympia, which has its own fair share of fruit-inspired pieces in the footwear department.
This Carmen Miranda fruit-basket foray strikes Dellal's fancy and informs her stylings.
And hence the over-sized leather banana she was toting/wielding...
