What led to the creation of BABËL and the ideology behind it?

Babël came out of a real need we saw in NYC nightlife. It was really frustrating to see how separated and segregated New Yorkers were among different social groupings - whether it was the hipster scene or the gay scene or the theatre scene - everyone had their own clubs and hangouts. Seeing everyone scattered like that wasn't at all inspiring. On top of that, the kind of place you could hangout was so limited and therefore boring, with either super high-end clubs where the music was secondary and bottles were queens, or underground clubs where music was the only God and everything else was left to dust. We felt that New Yorkers were dissatisfied - the artists, the entrepreneurs, the tastemakers were all left wanting and stopped going out and we wanted to bring them back out. To answer your question precisely, I would say that the BABËL was created out of the need to unify the different tribes of NYC and bring them together. We want to bring back Magic to the NY nightlife like the legendary Studio 54 or Limelight days. We want to people to once again experience love for NY nights.
