Can you tell me a little bit about your background in art?

You studied Fine Arts at NYU. Can you tell me a little bit about your background in art? It's funny because when I got into art, and I think my whole career through, I always went at art from more of a learning/educational background, and I never really got swept up by hype or who was in or who was out. That was very much why I left, because I wouldn't really conform to that. Hence, you're never gonna be a good art dealer if you can't sell art. So, I'd stare at a painting and think, 'why am I attracted or not attracted? Is this balanced? Do I appreciate it in it's educational level, in it's novelty, or is it just aesthetically pleasing?' And I always really thought that the most powerful art was a combination of the two. Something that, you know, is easy on the eyes. It's not something that grosses you out, but it has multiple layers and it's something smart and inventive.
