How did your past professional backgrounds lead you both to Ivory Row?
Pierre: As CEO of a private-label company for 20 years, I’ve spent most of my career designing and producing apparel for the nation’s leading brands and retailers. Having spent so much time on the brick-and-mortar side of retailing, I saw first-hand the layers of costs associated that were always passed onto the consumer.
I also saw how traditional retailers were struggling to compete with the nimble players in the e-commerce field. Traditional brands and retailers would start selling down coats in August. We always knew this was madness but large stores and brands needed the time to flow merchandise through their distribution centers, reposition their selling floors, and promote pre-season sales. They were inherently at a disadvantage from online retailers who could sell product directly to their customers…when they needed it!
