More Bad News For ClassPass Lovers

by Stephanie Maida · November 2, 2016

Well, it's back to the drawing board for the fitness fanatics obsessed with ClassPass. Earlier this year the Lululemon-wearing masses howled in reaction to the service's massive membership fee increase. We, however, offered some cheap (if not free) alternatives. If for some reason you couldn't pass up the pass, now's the time for even more outrage. Can't these CP people just let you LIVE - and sweat - in peace?

Today's bad news? The company announced that it will be discontinuing its unlimited plan, something many users stuck around for. What was originally launched in May 2014 as a summer promotion did seem to catch on, which is why ClassPass made it a more permanent option until now. But business models fall through and it's kinda understandable why this option couldn't be sustained.

According to ClassPass CEO, Payal Kadakia, "The truth is there is a fundamental problem with the Unlimited plan. It can’t be a long-term membership option because it doesn’t align our business with our promise. What kind of business would we be if we wanted our members to work out less to reduce costs? We’d be sabotaging the vision at the very heart of this company."

There you have it. So, will you be sticking around or getting your ass to a new class?
