Our GOP candidates seem to have a history of not starting out in the GOP party. Bachmann raised the issue that Texas Governor Rick Perry had started out in the Democratic Party by serving as Texas campaign chairman for Al Gore during his run for the White House back in 1988. Perry retorted that he joined the Republican Party at a younger age than Ronald Reagan.
There is also the small matter that Bachmann herself worked for Jimmy Carter's presidential campaign.
