Speaking of styling and dressing, what’s the process like when you’re styling someone? I know you want them to feel confident and look good, so is it an individual process or do you have a certain path to putting together a look?

When I style someone, I want to keep it true to their identity and elevate them—but elevate them in a way that they feel confident. You can steer someone in a little bit of a direction that you want to, but they won’t wear it the way it’s supposed to be worn it if they’re not confident. It’s so important, when a client or anyone, feels comfortable, confident. That’s the criteria for me. I want people to be like “wow, he looks really polished,” but I don’t want to take them so far out of their comfort zone that it almost becomes costume. For men, I try to keep it pretty authentic to their style but elevate them.
