What first sparked the idea for the book?

I got married fast. I met my husband on a boat in the Galapagos where we were both journalists on assignment and we got engaged in three months and married in less than nine. My Facebook engagement post got more likes than when I'd published a book or gotten a job promotion. The world clearly thought getting married was the most important thing I could ever do. But no one gave me any good advice for how to actually be married. AND I was clueless. So I figured I would use my job as a travel editor to report and write my way around the question. Over the first twelve months of my marriage I interviewed men and women in every place that I visited about how to make marriage work. We crowdsource everything else in our lives from what to eat to what to wear, I figured why not crowdsource how to have a happy marriage?
