Meyers: We both moved here 20 years ago, in 1993.Young: He [Meyers] actually was at Columbia, I had graduated from college, and I went to journalism school, and moved here with the initial aims to become a flat-out magazine journalist. That's where my writing derived from, those skills, and those passions.Meyers: I knew Greg through my sister, when I first moved here, so we reconnected in early 1994, and we started experiencing the city of the '90s, the bars, the clubs. It was great. We moved here at the tail end of the peak in crime, of New York's bad reputation. We experienced a turnaround of sorts in the reputation of the city. I know these anecdotal moments when I felt like the city's reputation was changing, like when Letterman decided to stay in New York - these moments when the city's pride was on the line.
