The grand opening is scheduled for after Fashion Week. We’re going to have a big opening party around September 17th. So ‘til then, we have a couple events during fashion week, but what we’re doing now are small parties here and there to figure stuff out and kind of find our feet. So where did the concept of The Raven come from? There’s an air of mystery surrounding the name itself and the décor definitely adds to that.I can’t really think of a very profound answer besides that my girl and I love Edgar Allen Poe and I like everything the poem means to me. You know, everything’s so fleeting, or you want something so badly, you dream about it. I battled between ‘Nevermore’ and ‘The Raven,’ and I kind of liked ‘The Raven.’ I also like the underground nature of it, the darkness. But I also wanted to bring something back that I thought New York hasn’t had in a while—a dark, basement-y, low-ceiling type of area. I’ve been partying in New York since I first came here in 1999 to do an internship, so I’ve been on the scene a very long time.
