The Days The Music Died

Dec 14, 2009 2:11 PM

Solange Raulston, a.k.a. DJ Reverend Soul, died yesterday when a truck hit her as she was riding her bicycle in Greenpoint. Gawker notes that it has been a grim couple of months for Brooklyn musicians, and with sadness we agree.

In addition to Troy Young and Gerhardt Fuchs, two drummers who died tragically in the last month, Guest of a Guest remembers our friend DJ Josh Link who died in Williamsburg when he was hit by a car while riding his Vespa last August. Here's to blasting the music of all four as you toast a safer 2010.

I am shocked... it hasn't yet been a week since my dear friend Solange was killed and I just stumbled across this article to learn that my friend and fellow drummer Troy is dead. We weren't really close anymore but we went to The Drummer's Collective together and would cross paths from time to time... I'm really in disbelief - and this one is so mysterious. May God bless you and keep you Troy - you will be missed!
