Wait a minute...why would you publish this, with photos? What the hell is wrong with you Stanley and GoaG? I can not believe you posted this exchange. and outed them.  

well they could always pass this off as a creative writing exercise or a social psychology assignment that asks you to violate a social norm... Let's hope that their families are 1) not computer or internet savvy, 2) all legally blind, and/or 3) extremely tolerant, lenient, and open-minded folks.

Putting up their pictures was a little much, especially since now anyone with an Internet connection will connect these faces to the raunchy email exchange posted here. If those picture filenames are the real names of those people, it only gets worse - we have a name, a face, and a series of communications. That said, I think the only real trouble that these two will encounter (aside from being unable to ever look anyone in the eye ever again, perhaps to the point of having to resign their positions) is really from their own families/spouses. Unless this, um, "fraternization" causes tangible PR problems, the Cornell administration probably couldn't care less (and might get a good laugh out of it).  

As for these people having done it to themselves - yes, they did put themselves in a compromising position by not only having an affair but leaving a paper/electronic record of it. That said, plenty of people have affairs, but relatively few of these have their lives ruined forever (because practically everyone on the planet, at least those people living in places to which these individuals might want to flee, now knows what they've done). There *are* limits to this sort of punishment/mercilessness, at least if you still have any humanity left...

Oh please! They deserve whatever they get. The people I do have sympathy for are his wife and her husband. I hope both of them have already contacted attornies. Anyone that thinks affairs are romantic or about love should take a long look at this pathetic couple. I don't get it ... the last email, why did John type the group name, "$JSEvents", in the To field? Why didn't he just hit the "Reply" and paste in the link requested? He *had* to type that group name - it's not gonna magically appear in the To field. Something sounds fishy here.

Personally I don't feel that this should be posted on the Internet. I'm older and more old-fashioned in my thoughts but this kind of thing should have been kept private. People need to realize that with technology today that anything can end up on the Internet. Why didn't they delete the messages that were received and sent? Why not call each other and talk privately on the phone instead of taking the chance of getting caught online. Now see what's happened? They're busted and the part that sucks the most are the spouses of these two people who now know that they're married to cheaters. And what about their kids if they have any? What's wrong with all of you who think they are being exploited by GOAG? They did this to themselves and they deserve whatever they get. Anyone who is stupid enough to conduct a conversation like this while at work, most likely using school computers, should not only be exposed, they should be fired, that is if they ever show up to work again (I would have left campus immediately and called in my resignation!). As for their families, it was their antics that put those relationships in jeopardy, not GOAG!  

What I find offensive as an employer and the mother of 2 children in college is the number of emails exchanged. The response to the first email is at 9:40 from then until 2:00 they exchange 60 emails. If you allow 2 minutes per email for opening reading and responding, that is 2 hours they each spent on personal emails. Had they not got caught at 2:00 they probably would have generated another 50 to 60 emails. This is 4 hours per person that they were being paid to work that they were conducting personal business. That is just one day. If you multiply this by 5 you have 40 hours the college is paying these two individuals for work or a service and instead they are indulging their fantasies. And the rest of us wonder why the cost of attendance for a 4 year degree has increased so drastically since we attended. My husband and I have saved for our children's education since their birth and I am appalled to think that my savings might be paying for similiar inappropriate work place behavior at the college my children attend. I could care less what these two adults do on their personal time. What I find offensive is that they are doing it at the expense of the school which in the end filters down to the consumers. Namely to the parents of the students in the form of tuition. Cornell needs to send a message to their employees and to the parents that they will not tolerate this disregard of the money parents have saved for years to ensure their children receive a good education by dismissing these two for the excessive use of company time spent conducting personal business. From the emails it is apparent this correspondance is a daily occurence between these two. I doubt they spend four hours after hours on emails. This woman has young children to feed and get to bed every evening and he has an ill mother in law, they wouldn't even consider losing 4 hours of the 5 or 6 hours of personal time they have every evening exchanging emails but think nothing of spending company time exchanging them every day. What audacity on their part as well as a slap in the face to the parents and students for them to think it is okay to spend company time conducting their affair. Shame on Cornell if they don't take very public corrective action immediately. If not they are basically condoning this behavior and implying to their students that this is acceptable work place behavior. Is this really the message we want to send to the next generation of company executives ? Wasn't the lack of integrity of CEO's , fund managers and the Wall Street wunderkids in the last few years enough of a lesson ? Do we really want our children to think they are not accountable for their behavior ? If so we better be prepared for the consequences.

For everyone in a tizzy about a website posting this: the entire email chain had already been sent to 600 people, everyone in the Johnson School of Business. This is real -- the email is still sitting in my husband's email inbox. He thought it was some kind of joke at first. Really sad.  

It only got emailed to the Johnson School, not the entire Cornell campus.

Now that their spouses have learned these two are cheaters, they can dump them and find someone who is (hopefully) faithful to their vows. One problem with cheating is that you can never trust the person you cheated with. If they cheated on their partner, what's to stop them from cheating on you?

Oh gag me. the person posting this is not being cruel to the innocent. At least the spouses of these two pigs have the truth and aren't getting gaslighted, lied to and hoodwinked until they FINALLY discover the truth. The truth will set them free. The innocent have NOTHING for which to be ashamed. I wish this could happen to all cheating married people. Would teach people that betrayal is despicable, not "romantic". @Mother of Three: It takes less than a second to read short emails like that with Outlook and preview panes. Two minutes is a ridiulously long time to check company emails. At max if they were both slow typers--highly doubtful, since John uses excessive punctuations and capitalized words--it would take a max of 20 seconds to receive, read, respond, and send (ctrl+enter anyone?) That being said I think these two were finding comfort with each other in a rough period (not to mention a lifetime of nosebush and mullet ugliness) of their lives. I also noticed that of all the comments above mentioning "I have been cheated on." Only one of those comments spelled every word correctly and used the correct words for "their/there" and "you're/your". Having participated in an affair (she married, me in a relationship) I noticed that we bonded for a number of reasons, but one was that our respective signficant others used "your/you're" incorrectly. Moral of my story? Clean up your grammar and spelling and your wife or boyfriend won't fuck somebody else. P.S. My verify word was trout too.  

Aww. Well, sure this was a bad move, but I feel for these two. Whatever thoughts are on the morality of their extramarital activities, their personal lives have just been splashed across the internet, they have been humiliated and probably lost their family and their livelihoods. I've seen too much chaos to believe in "karma," and I don't know if anyone "deserves" this.  

The victims here are the families. Not these two lying, cheating, sneaking adulterers. They deserve scorn, not sympathy.

Rofl All I have to say is they deserve no sympathy as they reap what they sow. Anyone who says "what if you were on the receiving end?" Fact is children and spouses, especially spouses, unknowingly suffer when a wife or husband is cheating. Cheaters, in order to live with and justify their actions gaslight, rewrite history and, more often than not, are mentally and emotionally abusive to household members. If your concern is for spouses and children, then this is the best thing that could have happened for them. Really. These two can no longer lie, deny and engage in subtle forms of abuse. The truth has set their families free.

Cornell Business program is one where they have to struggle madly to get jobs once they're done paying ($150,000) for MBAs. Which much of Cornell actually "is."

Way back in '70, Cornell attempted to entice me to attend. I opted for a far beter school [as nationally ranked], The University of Michigan. After reading these messages, I chose correctly. Some of you 'alums' can't even spell!
