After the Met Ball, guests head to the official after party at Crown in their finest designer ball gowns. We take a look at this new hotspot, set to be open to the public in June. -
John DeLucie, the head chef and partner in The Lion, has taken over the former Bruno Jamais space at 24 East 81st Street by Madison Avenue. He plans to make it a “classic New York-American restaurant." We emailed for more details, but were told that the are finalizing everything right now.
From Vogue's description of the Met Gala after-party, we do know a few things. There is a marble foyer, a wood-paneled lounge that evokes a nineteenth-century gentleman’s club complete with leather upholstered chairs and candlelight, and that its swank enough for the most fabulous VIP's in the city.
If it's good enough for Sir Paul McCartney and Madonna, chances are it's good enough for anyone. But will you be willing to travel all the way uptown on a night when they aren't there?

This is an interesting development. The former Bruno Jamais happens to be a beautiful townhouse and the perfect spot for a chic under the radar type speakeasy. The only problem could be the neighbors who are likely powerful and influential types, complaining when the hordes arrive and the papparazi gather out front. The issue of "travelling all the way uptown" is a total non-issue because the powerful, influential and beautiful people live up there anyway. This will just save them carfare.
