Moonflower, A Groovy New Wine Bar, Just Opened In The West Village

by Stephanie Maida · July 8, 2022

If you're strolling along West 11th and spot a colorful flock of cool kids gathered outside a pastel blue storefront, congratulations! You've just found Moonflower, the funkiest new addition to the neighborhood.

The recently opened jewel box of a wine bar comes from restaurateurs-to-watch Rowen McDermott and Rebecca Johnson, who've taken over the former Vin Sur Vingt space to put their own spin on a laidback haunt for snacking and sipping.

Filled with groovy interiors including flower-power painted tables, a disco ball-mirrored bathroom, and a swirling marble bar, the cozy haunt is serving up unique natural wines and, as they told Eater last year, "innovative and approachable dishes that highlight the mood of the season." Currently on the menu? Fresh baked bread with ramp butter, tuna tartare with a carrot and ginger purée, and their own homemade take on a Twinkie. Yes, please.

Trust, you're going to want to be one of the first to try (and 'gram) this place.
