The Absolute Chicest Place To Host Your Birthday In NYC

by Christie Grimm · July 30, 2019

Birthdays are serious business. We've all been there - making your way to some horrible bar in the middle of nowhere out of obligation or squeezing into a back room in some random restaurant that was the only place with a semi-private space available. Well, no offense to your friends, but you should totally expect more from yourself.

Since opening their doors this past February, L'Avenue at Saks has proven a très popular Parisian export. The gorgeous Philippe Starck designed art deco space plays host daily to many a familiar, famous face for lunch and dinner. Basically, if Polo Bar wasn't a dungeon without windows...

Whether you're looking to reserve a big table or gather a group for drinks at the bar, this midtown hot spot is THE place to celebrate. Just make sure you end your evening at Le Chalet. An unexpected gem hidden just a floor below the restaurant, the fashion set has been treating this spot as their private party space for months. Remember - it's where Gigi Hadid held her all-denim birthday bash, and then she loved it so much that a hot second later she decided to turn around and host a CFDA afterparty there with Virgil Abloh. And as if that's not convincing enough for you, Winnie Harlow and David Spade have also hosted their birthdays here.

One enters Le Chalet by descending a very glamorous staircase (ideal for a dramatic birthday entrance) tucked beside the restaurant entrance, leading you straight into the cozy, French après-ski styled lounge.

A room bursting with couches and plush chairs begging you to sink into them and waste away an evening over drinks and laughs and drinks. And for a real treat, be sure to poke out to the outside terrace and soak up some incredibly stunning skyline views.

Factor in a delicious dessert from Pierre Hermé, and you will have achieved the perfect New York birthday. It's really as simple as that.

You're welcome.
