This Stylish Greenpoint Speakeasy Is Hidden Behind A Coffee Shop (& Has A Heated Patio!)

Obsessed with the thrill of locating a secret entrance and slipping into a hidden haunt? Well, you're in luck, because the New York nightlife scene still loves speakeasies as much as you do.

The next time you're in the mood to turn your cocktail-sipping into a clandestine experience, we suggest heading to Ninety Nine Franklin, a funky bar tucked away behind a Greenpoint coffee shop.

The intimate watering hole, which debuted at the end of 2021, can be accessed through a subway-tiled door at the back of the all-day cafe and espresso bar of the same name (located, obviously, at 99 Franklin Street). It's dimly lit and accented by 'grammable neon lighting - so, perfect for both date night and girls' night - and, best of all, there's even a heated backyard complete with a fire pit that you can actually roast marshmallows over to make S'mores. Seriously, if you ask us, more speakeasies should come with light-strung patios and S'mores on the menu.

Of course, the cocktails are probably what you're most after, and those definitely don't disappoint. Drink offerings include Espresso Martinis (duh, this is part of an espresso bar, after all), Spicy Palomas, and Mezcal Negronis. There are even fun sips with names nodding to the city, like the Queens Margarita and the Fort Tilden (made with spiced rum, pineapple, coconut, coffee bean, agave, and lime).

So if you want to have your coffee and your cocktail too, this spot is certainly worth not-so-accidentally discovering.
